Bartlett Pear Inn
There are actually some 3,000 varieties of pears in the world, but only a few were carefully cultivated into what today are the heirloom varieties so popular in our everyday food markets. We showcase most of those chosen few in the warm but fresh modern character of the guest bedrooms and suites at our totally refurbished Federal-style inn.
The Bartlett is the top crop of pears – and is the classic color and shape that comes to mind when you think of a pear. It was chosen for the name of the inn partly because it happens to be Innkeeper-Owner Alice Lloyd’s maiden name and is often the pear that her husband Chef Jordan Lloyd chooses for his much-acclaimed French bistro restaurant, also a part of the inn.
But, the Bartlett, being the king of pears, means it’s outstanding and uncompromising, adjectives that also describe our innkeeping philosophy, along with the friendliness of our staff and the good taste in our guest and dining rooms.
The inn houses seven guest rooms – all named after pears – and all with private bathrooms, many of them en suite, plus original wood floors, dramatic windows, and front-porch access. You will want to try them all because each room – like each pear -- is distinctly different, beautiful, and totally satisfying in their own way.
